internal employee portal

version 1.0

introduction

For a large federal government client, with my work protected by security clearances, I was the first designer given the opportunity to create a new internal employee portal. Taking over from the business analysts team, I gathered Minimum Viable Product (MVP) requirements and created initial sketches.

  • As this website is used for a federal agency’s internal employees as a sign-on portal site, under a security clearance, varying levels of detail are shown in this portfolio piece.

initial designs

With the business analysis team’s requirements as a base, I created sketches, low-fidelity wireframes, and two-by-two designs (or A versus B designs). Additionally, I started to include varying levels of detail as various other teams on the project created the requirements and content.

Iterative Process

This process of designing the minimum viable product, took a few months with the following cycle taking place repeatedly:

continuing to development

As the sole designer of this project, I used the shared link feature in Adobe XD to share the prototype with front and back-end developers. After I “handed” the prototype to developers the continued work included:

  • meetings with developers to answer design questions

  • provide feedback and final quality check.
